The transition can be intimidating for many patients. With Partial Hospitalization, patients live off-campus but spend their full days at Rosewood. They continue to participate in the same therapies and modalities, to explore the same issues, to strengthen the same healthy behaviors, as before. This comprehensive and individualized program, facilitated by our multidisciplinary team of skilled clinicians, dietitians and psychiatrists, contains many of the same elements as those available through our inpatient program, including:
- Individual and group therapy sessions with our supportive counselors
- Nutritional counseling with our Registered Dietitians
- Experiential modalities with our trained therapists
Instead of providing 24-hour hospital care, Partial Hospitalization allows greater flexibility, offering added opportunities to practice real-life skills during their ongoing treatment. While less structured than our inpatient level of care, it provides more structure and support than outpatient care. For someone just rediscovering their inner strength after an illness, it can mean the difference between successful independent living and relapse.
Navigating the Challenges of Re-Entry
As the process of recovering from an eating disorder starts to yield results, it can uncover new concerns for a patient navigating the journey from dysfunctional thinking and behavior to a functional, empowered lifestyle. Many of our patients find they need to re-establish life management skills they didn’t realize they had lost—skills they’ll need to rely on when they start living independently again: These include: how to shop for groceries; how to cope with social situations in restaurants where food is unlimited; how to interview for a job, pay the bills on time, make sure the laundry is done. Loss of these coping strategies and life skills is a measure of how all-consuming and destructive an eating disorder can be. At Rosewood we understand it can shake the confidence of someone who has already made great strides in their recovery. Our Partial Hospitalization program provides a safe, supportive framework for re-learning the strategies and skills most people take for granted. By allowing limited off-campus living, the program strengthens the patient’s resolve to achieve sustained recovery and productive, empowered living. For patients living with family members, the program also gives them opportunities to heal relationships that had been damaged by the eating disorder. For many patients, Partial Hospitalization is exactly what’s needed at this critical juncture in their recovery process. The program empowers them to create their own healthy recovery lifestyle, taking advantage of all the skills they’ve gained during treatment—so they can re-enter society smoothly and confidently.
Our Partial Hospitalization Program is Ideal for:
- eating disorder patients who are just starting a recovery journey
- patients who are transitioning from a more intensive program
- patients who require some but not all of the supervision and care available in our Inpatient program
- patients who need to develop confidence in their ability to manage independently
