Rosewood Alumni Katie has a passion for art. “Art has always been a big part of my life. It’s who I am,” comments Katie who explains that it was through her art that she was able to connect in group sessions at Rosewood. Painting is an example of a creative expression modality that allows Rosewood clients to quickly express emotions, thoughts and feelings without having to rely on verbal communication. Sometimes a client may be unable to put into words how they are feeling or what their hopes/dreams/concerns are, however they can express it through painting, music, or another expressive modality. More about treatment modalities for eating disorders at Rosewood. “Although my bulimia is a forever part of me … I know that my creativity has so much potential to help me get over even my hardest challenges,” explains Katie, who is now studying studio art at Northern Arizona University. Go Katie! We believe in you and look forward to seeing you explore your artistic passion!
