Weight Loss at Any Cost: Alleged Cheating on “The Biggest Loser”

Home > About > Blog > Weight Loss at Any Cost: Alleged Cheating on “The Biggest Loser”

By Melissa Spann on February 6, 2014April 28, 2022

BingeBehavior.com, an organization that combats weight stigma, discusses what they call a ‘cheating scandal’ on the TV show The Biggest Loser (TBL), brings to light what they refer to as, “the show’s hypocritical notion that weight loss is synonymous with health.” The article argues that TBL touts itself as a health-oriented program, while, according the article the show’s focus is “sensationalism and weight loss at any cost.” The article goes on to say that the show’s foundation is built upon fat-shaming, along with mental and emotional abuse, while “a balance of movement, nutrition, and mental well-being,” is the true foundation of good health.

This post is a summary of an article on BingeBehavior.com and does not include the opinions of Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders or its affiliates. You can read the full article here.

Rosewood gave me hope when I wasn’t sure recovery was possible. I learned how to love again. I learned how to mend the wounds I created within my family and myself. One year after Rosewood, I am loving what I thought was impossible.
