I went to Rosewood’s Adolescent Eating Disorder Treatment Program back in October of 2015 for Bulimia Nervosa. I was in inpatient for 33 days and discharged in November. I can say that I’m very happy that I went to Rosewood for treatment. Before I went to Rosewood, I had told a lie that I had been holding in for about 3 years. While in treatment, I came out about that lie simply because I had constant guilt. I was starting to become very depressed and lonely because no one knew the truth about me. I realized what had been keeping me from telling the truth. I took the time to get to know people and to get to know what it’s like to be in recovery. It’s been a very long and painful ride, and it’s been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I have met some of the most loving and caring people in treatment. People that have supported me since day one. They are a big influence in my recovery. I’m still learning how to cope and to love myself. I’m learning that the things in my past do not define who I am today. I am very proud of the person I have become and the things I have been able to come out about. I’m very thankful that Rosewood was there for me. Now I can live my life and do the things I love to do.
Kendal, 15 Year Old Rosewood Alum
Kendal’s Mom was also kind enough to share her thoughts on her daughter’s Rosewood experience and recovery:
Recovery for Kendal had had its’ ups and downs. She was always strong and even when she felt like giving up, she never did. Her team of therapists and dieticians kept her focused and helped her be accountable. I am so proud of Kendal’s progress and look forward to a bright future.
