Drug Addiction Treatment
Statistics show that many individuals with an eating disorder may also be abusing drugs. Eating disorders can lead to mental illnesses such as anxiety and depression that all take a great psychological toll. Drugs are used as a way to self-medicate and temporarily lesson the negative feelings brought about by an eating disorder or mood disorder. In some instances, however, this can lead to a full-scale drug addiction that needs treatment.
Rosewood treats the full continuum of drug addictions including cocaine, heroin, marijuana, prescription drug addictions and more. We offer drug addiction treatment programs that can help each patient overcome his or her dependence on this substance and reach lifelong recovery, regardless of length of addiction or history of use. We utilize innovative and highly successful therapies at our accredited and licensed behavioral health facilities to treat the root of the disorder. Our staff of certified medical professionals is ready and eager to provide the support and services needed to help patients break free from their reliance on drugs. We treat the whole individual, first identifying the root cause of addiction in order to better administer proper treatment.
At Rosewood, we can help you or a loved one build a customized course of treatment suited for their specific needs. We offer a variety of treatment options, from inpatient to transitional or outpatient, ensuring that we have services available to meet the needs of all of our patients. Types of Drug Addictions
The medical experts at Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders work hard to treat the whole individual, taking into account the unique history of substance abuse and background of each patient that enters our facility. We understand that the needs of each person differs based on the type of drug they are addicted to, and for this reason have developed customized treatment plans to address each type of drug addiction. Some of the common drug addictions we treat include:
Cocaine: This highly addictive drug can be either inhaled through the nose or injected directly into a vein. Often times those suffering form a cocaine addiction will experience physical symptoms including a chronically runny nose, nosebleeds, and difficulty swallowing, in addiction to psychological symptoms such as paranoia, anxiety, and irritability.
Heroin: This opioid brings users into a state of euphoria, and can even block an individual’s ability to feel pain. Over time, more obvious signs of addiction to this drug often become present, including needle track marks on the arm(s), weight loss, and scabs from skin picking.
Marijuana: Marijuana is the most commonly used illegal drug in the country, and is becoming more easily available. This drug can be smoked or added to every day food items and consumed. Those under the influence will often display bloodshot eyes, experience increased appetite, have dry mouth and a rapid heartbeat.
In addition to the above-mentioned drug, Rosewood offers treatment for additional drug addictions including prescription drugs, inhalants, methamphetamines, and more. Whatever the addiction, we are here to help.
Rosewood’s Approach To Drug Addiction Treatment
At Rosewood, we understand that no two patients are the same. For this reason, we have developed multiple treatment modalities to address the unique needs of all of our patients. These multidisciplinary treatment modalities have been tested and proven to help patients learn the techniques necessary for long-term recovery from their drug addiction. Our drug addiction treatment options include:
Psychotherapy: Also known as “talk therapy,” psychotherapy enables a client to openly share their thoughts and feelings and how these emotions control their mood and behaviors. When done correctly with a skilled therapist, psychotherapy works by helping the patient to make positive changes in the way they approach stressful situations, therefore empowering them to resist temptation and build the self-confidence necessary the urge to use.
Nutritional Therapy: When treating drug addiction, it is crucial to treat the mind and identify the root cause of what is driving a client to use. Oftentimes, however, the importance of treating the body is often overlooked. In our commitment to treat the whole individual, we’ve incorporated a robust nutritional component to all of our treatment plans. After they arrive at Rosewood, clients will be evaluated by a Registered Dietitian and provided with a customized meal plan. For those battling an eating disorder in addition to their drug addiction, they’ll build a safe and positive association with food, while also receiving the nourishment they need to fight their drug addiction.
Family and Group Therapy: It is almost impossible to overcome a drug addiction without the support of others. For this reason, we offer family and group therapy to all of our clients. Family can be an incredible motivator to get clean, and therefore we allow the loved ones of our clients to be active participants in their treatment plans through regular visitation and family week, a designated time for clients and their family to learn the tools they need to return home with clarity and confidence to live healthy and productive lives. During group therapy sessions, residents will be able to discuss their experiences and feelings in a safe setting among those that understand their situation better than anyone.
Rosewood also offers Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Equine Therapy, Canine therapy, Creative Expression Therapy, and so much more.
