Celebrating A Victory At Grocery Store

When shopping, I still browse the bakery section, but only single serving desserts. I never end up buying them. Today, it’s not because I fear desserts, it’s because for my exchanges, I prefer foods more nourishing to my body most times. Also, thanks to Melissa (tech at Rosewood Capri) and Alyssa (dietitian at Rosewood Capri) the shopping experience has become a delightful excursion instead of an opportunity for self-abuse. They taught me to literally smell the flowers. I even compliment the staff on their beautiful arrangements they spent time designing. I appreciate the expertise of the pastry chefs, bakers, and cake decorators. I learn about the different cuts of meat and their uses. I have conversations with the lady at the seafood counter about different types of fish and she sometimes throws in dill or other herbs and shares her favorite recipes. I’m in awe and open to vegetables and fruits I’ve never tried before. Before leaving, I give thanks to my higher power for all the varieties of foods he has supplied and for all the staff who are there to serve me. I’ve learned some of their names and take time to acknowledge them. Most times shopping is an enriching voyage of joy instead of a hurried forage for objects of self-harm. Today, I leave the store both gifted by others and as being a gift to others.
