Benjamin Shapiro, MD, is Consulting Psychiatrist at Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders. Dr. Shapiro completed medical school, a psychiatry residency and psychiatry fellowship at the David Geffen UCLA School of Medicine. He is currently associate clinical professor of health sciences at UCLA.

He has trained nurse practitioners, medical students, residents and fellows in internal medicine, psychiatry, neurology and geriatric psychiatry. He has also trained fellows in geriatric medicine, addiction issues, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), medical ethics, legal issues, complex drug interactions and toxidromes and psychotherapy. He provides yearly CME for the UCLA Geriatric Medicine Review Course.

Dr. Shapiro has board certifications in adult psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry and addiction medicine. He has more than a decade of experience working with underserved communities with HIV, and patients with a history of trauma, PTSD, addiction and severe personality disorders. He does focused work in adolescent and adult eating disorders and maintains interests in non-traditional treatment modalities in psychiatry, orthomolecular psychiatry and nutrition.
