Molly Perlman, MD, MPH, CEDS
Chief Medical Officer
Molly M. Perlman, MD, MPH, CEDS, FAPA, is Chief Medical Officer at Monte Nido & Affiliates, overseeing psychiatric and medical care at over 50 programs across the U.S. She is double board certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine, graduated from Duke University and the University of Miami, and has trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. During residency in psychiatry, Dr. Perlman served as Chief Resident and was awarded the Laughlin Fellowship, which is bestowed annually on 12 elite residents for outstanding leadership and significant achievements in psychiatry. Dr. Perlman is on the Board of Directors of the Eating Disorders Coalition, served as Vice President of the Board from 2018 through 2022, and advocates on Capitol Hill regularly for increasing eating disorder education and access to treatment. Additionally, she oversees Monte Nido & Affiliates IRB-approved research study on clinical outcomes as Co-Principal Investigator and has co-authored several papers in peer-reviewed research journals on PTSD and eating disorders.
Melissa Spann, PhD, LMHC, CEDS-S

Melissa Orshan Spann, PhD, LMHC, RTY 200, is Chief Clinical Officer at Monte Nido & Affiliates, overseeing the clinical operations and programming for over 50 programs across the U.S. Dr. Spann is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and clinical supervisor as well as an accomplished presenter and passionate clinician who has spent her career working in the eating disorder field in higher levels of care. She is a member of the Academy for Eating Disorders and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals where she serves on the national certification committee, supervision faculty, and is on the board of her local chapter. She received her doctoral degree from Drexel University, master’s degree from the University of Miami, and bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida.
Joel Jahraus, MD, FAED, CEDS
Vice President of Medical Services
Joel Jahraus, MD, FAED, CEDS, is Vice President of Medical Services at Monte Nido & Affiliates. A board-certified physician for over 40 years, he is a recognized expert on medical complications of eating disorders and is known for his decades of specialization in the medical management of patients with eating disorders. He co-authored chapters on eating disorders in both the “Textbook of Psychosomatic Medicine” and “The Treatment of Eating Disorders: A Clinical Handbook” and testified at a U.S. Congressional briefing on the need for health insurance coverage for eating disorder treatment. He received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor and was named a Top Doctor of 2013 by “U.S. News and World Report.” Dr. Jahraus graduated from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, Missouri, with a background in family medicine.
Amanda Mellowspring, MS, RD/N, CEDRD-S
Vice President of Nutrition Services
Amanda Mellowspring, MS, RD/N, CEDRD-S, is Vice President of Nutrition Services at Monte Nido & Affiliates, overseeing nutrition programming and services across the country. Amanda is a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian and Supervisor through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals with over 15years of experience leading the treatment of eating disorders at various levels of care. Amanda currently serves on the Certification Committee for IAEDP and co-authored the publication defining the Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance for RDs working with eating disorders in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
