Art Therapy
At Rosewood, art therapy generally utilizes, drawing, painting, sculpture and other forms of visual expression. Art therapy is based on the belief that the creative process is both healing and life-enhancing. Our skilled therapists use the creative process and the issues that come up during art therapy to help their patients:
Equine Therapy
Rosewood offers an onsite Equine Program at its Rosewood Ranch location. At the Ranch we have four therapy horses: Big John (former race horse), Rosie (adorable pony), Chico (thoroughbred) and Poco (throughbred).
Equine therapy is a very popular experiential therapy that teaches people about themselves, allows recognition of dysfunctional patterns of behavior, and helps define healthy relationships. Horses are non-judgemental and provide a safe environment for patients to explore their own emotional state as the horses respond to their behavior. Building a relationship with an animal is very rewarding in many aspects; for a person with an emotional, social or psychological disability, the trust and loyalty of an animal demonstrates to the student how important they are and then they may extend these attributes to personal relationships. Treatment is provided to patients based on the professionals area of expertise and utilizes the horses' movement or equine environment to meet the patients' goals.
